Why are LINKS such a big deal?

It’s a fact that, these days, how many external sites link to your site is, as far as Google is concerned, is a MASSIVE indicator to them as to how much weight they should give to your site for a ’search phrase’ so they can determine where you will appear in their rankings but, as usual, it’s more complicated than that folks…
